Initially, the scholarship is to help pay the mandatory tuition for both domestic and international Ph.D. students who are enrolled full- or part-time in the Faculty of Arts.
Moreover, the Faculty of Arts founded the Scholarship in 2015 and provides funding for it. The primary goal of the Scholarship is to offer financial assistance for Ph.D. study at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland’s Faculty of Arts.

Eligibility:
- We evaluate an applicant’s academic potential using their grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent from their postgraduate degree and undergraduate honors program.
- Additionally, all nationalities are eligible to apply for doctoral scholarships offered by the Faculty of Arts.
- Moreover, we expect students to enroll and start receiving their scholarships within six months, unless they can, in exceptional circumstances, get the Dean of the Faculty of Arts’ agreement for a later start date.
Selection Criteria:
- During the screening process, applicants’ academic standing is evaluated.
- In addition, the curriculum vitae of the applicant is evaluated.
- Accordingly, the panel also validates the references that have been given.
- Candidates must submit a research statement with their application for a Faculty of Arts doctoral scholarship, which the selection committee assesses based on its caliber and purpose.
