About the University of Trento
Since its founding in 1962, the University of Trento has worked to develop partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships with both Italian and international institutions and organizations. The University, which had been private until 1982, was become public thanks to a statute that guaranteed self-government.
With reference to the modification of the unique Statute of Autonomy on Financial Regulations, the Milan Agreement reached in 2009 between the Government and the Autonomous Province of Trento (together with that of Bolzano and the Regional control), gave the Province new control over the University. This moves the University’s development along and ensures that there will be enough and properly distributed financial resources.
There are over 600 professors and researchers, more than 16,000 students, and an equal number of technical employees.
